messagecare will respect your privacy and
the security of your email address and personal information.
We will not keep or disclose any personal information to
third parties beyond that which is necessary for the performance
of your service.
messagecare recognises the importance of
your privacy and our Privacy Policy is intended to represent
industry practice and to comply with our obligations under
the Privacy Act 1988.
messagecare will manage your personal information
in a manner consistent with the Internet Industry Association
(IIA) Code of Conduct and in accordance with the National

when you join SpamTrap what information
is collected?
You may join SpamTrap by changing your incoming (POP3) mail
server and User Name settings. When you connect after doing so, an email
from us will direct you to our terms and conditions and will
ask you to confirm your acceptance of these terms
and conditions as well as your POP3 User ID and your
password. When you enter your password, we send it to your
ISP to verify your access - we do not collect or retain your
password, nor can we access your password.
When you download your email, we count how many emails are
in your mailbox, how many we stop from reaching you and how
many we pass through to you. We record the fact you have
connected and downloaded, the amount of data transferred
and the time taken. We use this information for statistical
purposes and to provide you with regular reports on the performance
of your SpamTrap service. The spam we trap from your mailbox
we keep for you to review for 30 days, it is then deleted,
whether you review it or not. We do not look at your
emails or your spam unless you ask us to review it.
If you register via our web page, we ask you to provide
your email address. We collect no other personal information.
If you subscribe we ask you to provide your personal
details for billing. We do not retain these details.
We will use your email address to advise of any issues related
to your service, and to report to you on the performance
of your SpamTrap service.
when you use SpamTrap what information
is collected?
When you look at any of our web pages, our server
makes a record of your visit and logs the following information:
- your IP address
- your top level domain name
(for example .com, .gov, .au, .uk etc)
- the pages you accessed and documents downloaded
- the previous site you have visited
- the type of browser you are using.
This information is held in aggregate, statistical form
and used by messagecare to develop, improve
and market the SpamTrap service. messagecare will
not collect any further personal information about you other
than that explained here without your consent.
access to information collected
A law enforcement agency or other government agency
may exercise its legal authority to inspect our logs or the
spam we have collected from your mailbox. We shall advise
you of any such enquires, subject to the terms of any request
or warrant we receive.
Your email address will only be used for the purpose for
which you have provided it and it will not be added to any
third party mailing list or used for any other purpose without
your consent. Please advise us if at any stage you do not
wish to receive email from messagecare about
your SpamTrap service and its performance.
If at any time you want to know exactly what personal information
messagecare holds about you, you are welcome
to access your record by emailing us at privacy@messagecare.com.
Our file of your information will be made available to you
within 14 days.
If at any time you wish to change personal information that
is inaccurate or out of date, please contact us by emailing
us at privacy@messagecare.com.
If you wish to have your personal information deleted, please
let us know in the same manner and we will take all reasonable
steps to delete it unless we need to keep it for legal reasons.

We will collect information that you volunteer to us on
surveys and questionnaires - we use the information
collected only to improve the services messagecare provides
and no identifying characteristic shall be provided to any
other party. These surveys are strictly confidential.
Non-identifiable information, such as aggregated data, may
be used in promoting the services of messagecare.
storage and security of your personal information
messagecare will endeavour to take all
reasonable steps to keep secure any information which we
hold about you and to keep this information accurate and
up to date. Your information is stored on secure servers
that are protected in controlled facilities. We require our
employees to respect the confidentiality of any personal
information held by messagecare. Unfortunately,
no data transmissions over the Internet can be 100% guaranteed
to be secure, so we cannot give an absolute assurance that
the information you provide to us will be secure at all times.
messagecare will not be held responsible
for events arising from unauthorised access to your personal
information.
cookies
Our website uses cookies, which can be either "persistent" or "session" based. Persistent
cookies are stored on your computer, contain an expiration date, and
may be used to track your browsing behaviour upon return to the issuing
web site. We use persistent cookies to provide services tailored to
your SpamTrap account.
Session cookies are short-lived, are used only during a browsing
session, and are automatically deleted when you quit your browser.
