who can use SpamTrap

SpamTrap works with all standard POP3 mailboxes, the most common type used by ISP's, and all standard email software that support the POP3 protocol. The only system requirement for use of SpamTrap is that you have a computer (of any type of operating system) that can connect to the Internet and download email.

Because of their closed architecture, SpamTrap won't work with proprietary services such as AOL, Hotmail and Yahoo Mail. SpamTrap does not support IMAP or Exchange based mail servers unless they have some form of POP3 connection or translation system (such as the Microsoft Exchange POP3 connector).

what about webmail access when I am overseas?

Most webmail systems (such as those provided by your ISP) are hard coded to retrieve mail directly from the ISP's mail system rather than allowing you to pass email through the SpamTrap filters.

There are some web mail services that do allow you to specify your own email settings at login. Some SpamTrap users have reported using a service called mail2web.com in conjunction with their SpamTrap settings, with successful results. Please bear in mind that mail2web.com and systems like it are third party services not endorsed, affiliated or supported by messagecare and that you should appraise yourself of the terms & conditions of all online services before using them.
